B-movie, gimme some gore

Wow, I really have no idea where September went. It's gonna be release day in no time. orz

I should say thank you, first off, to everyone who took the time to look at my flyer at SPX! As it turns out I couldn't be there in person, but thanks to my lovely friend Jodi my flyers were handed out. I'm really happy they seemed to be well-received.

As promised, I have a preview page up for you all at last! It's kind of a bloody one. You guys like gore, right? :3 Click for big as always.

I like to letter and draw speech balloons by hand. It seems like this is kind of out of vogue in the age of webcomics... I don't really know, haha. Even so, I think it makes it feel a little more personal to draw them manually rather than use a font. This comic will probably go right from the inked page to the printer, with no digital editing. Pretty oldschool.

Anyway, thank you all for visiting and for your patience. m(_ _)m See you soon with another update!

Promo art and an announcement!

Hey guys--first off, I wanted to show you this:

(click for big)--the promo art and cover for the first issue of Guillotine! I really hope you enjoy it and that it makes you look forward to reading the comic itself. :) Colouring that snake was actually pretty fun, though I thought it would be tedious...

As for the announcement, it's pretty close to confirmed that I'm gonna be at the Small Press Expo in Maryland, September 26th and 27th. I'll be at the Acute Studios booth, and I'll be handing out postcard-sized prints of this image with this blog's address, release info, etc. so I hope you'll be able to stop by and pay me a visit! The other Acute girls are very talented as well, and they'll have some of their work up for sale.

Next time I'll have a sneak peek page scanned for you, so stay tuned. :)

A quick note...

It took longer than I was expecting to get the computer up and running again, but as of today it's good to go and I'll be reinstalling Photoshop as soon as possible :) Thanks for reading, guys.

PS - Any Megaten fans out there? I'm back into Megaten Imagine Online again lately, I'm Argento and hanging out on chan 1 as of late. You should say hi!

Progress Report for Mid-July!

Page Count Penciled: 2.5/??
Page Count Inked: 1.5/??

I'm working diligently away this week on two particularly problematic and detailed pages. :B I'm very happy with what's been produced so far, though. It's actually been a learning experience, as this comic's style is fairly different from a lot of stuff I've done in the past. It is time-consuming, but I feel the end result will be well worth it.

I'm updating from my netbook at the moment, since our desktop computer is out of commission for a while (hard drive failures are my recurring curse). With luck we should have it back from the shop this week, and with a lot of luck they'll have recovery disks for our particular system. If not, it'll be about another week before I can make significant updates here.

What you can expect once that computer's back and in working order, though, is an entire, inked teaser page from the introduction of Guillotine. I'll also be making a header for this blog with art from a second page, so this place won't look quite so plain. :) Please look forward to it!

In other, random news, between working on the comic I've been watching season two of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. KyoAni really needs to stop trolling us with this Endless Eight business. D: It'd be really fantastic if they stretched it to eight filleriffic episodes to take up more than half of the season fans have been waiting for for three years, haha. I called it.

What would you do?

What would you do if more than 1 billion people were slaughtered simultaneously around the world? The killings did not discriminate--no age, class, race, or gender was spared. With no indication of when or if more murders would occur, the civilized world is thrown into chaos. This is the situation Anise and her brother find themselves in, and they venture into the world of survivors to find what answers they can...

Thanks for visiting this blog! Guillotine is my first serious comic project, to be released in Spring 2010 at Anime North in Toronto and online at my Etsy shop, Showa Carnival. Please look forward to teasers and development news here!
